End of Summer

Posted on 11 April, 2016 at 18:25 Comments comments (0)

What a season it has been! No wonder i haven't had enough time to get online and update the website. The riding club has had a really great start. With the last ctr ride of the season last weekend, we can now start looking towards next season. Start getting the new young horses fit and ready for next summer season. We still have spaces in our riding club, so locals contact us if you want to get some regular riding in at affordable rates!

Winter in Dunedin.

A time of wet and cold, and MUD, but there's plenty of nice days still to get out and about with the horses.

It's also a great time to plan for the next season and we have some big plans! Building on a new barn will begin soon as well as new fences and an all weather arena.

Family time

Family time is so precious. I'm just so lucky that my girls enjoy horses as much as i do, not just the fun riding bits, but the caring for them. Feed out in the mornings and afternoons is a many hands make light work situation. Everyone has a job to do, from feeding out hay, to mixing the hard feed and filling up the water, taking off and putting on covers, catching a goat or feeding the ducks. It's an everyday routine and surely some days you don't feel like getting it started, but it's actually one of my favorite daily moments on the farm.

Rebuilding

It's an exciting time at Silver Stream. In many ways things are much the same for the horses, but there's some big things happening! This week we got the big truck going! After not being used for the last few years, i'm getting my license to drive it and fixing it up. It will enable us to take 10 horses anywhere. Our little red truck will still be around as well, but 3 horses just isn't enough any more! The big truck will be used for riding club, our multi day rides into the mountains for locals and for tourists, and if we get a bigger endurance/ctr team together for next season.
